Wallflower: Eyelet Blouse + Printed Top + Metallic Dress

On some days, I would combine my vintage thrift finds with modern pieces I bought either from a local boutique or department store. I sometimes take advantage of SALE events because I can't bear to buy an expensive piece unless it's a basic piece that I can wear with various outfits. Today, everything I'm wearing is a vintage thrift find except for my shoes and accessories.

 VINTAGE ENSEMBLE:
Tops: printed V-neck cream long-sleeved blouse (thrifted)
floral eyelet Ecru button-down blouse (thrifted)
Dress: blue metallic jumper dress (thrifted)
bag: faux fur fuzzy bag (thrifted)
shoes: ballet flats (local shop)
accessories: gold ruffled belt, pearl earrings & candy bracelet (local shops)

I'm very particular about romantic little details in clothes.  Although my fashion style is pretty simple, tiny embellishments and small quirks make me happy.  So, even though the photos can tell you what I'm wearing, I'm still gonna talk about each piece so you'll know why I love them.  Besides, the photos are quite hazy.  I am really convinced that it's much better to do photo shoots during day time, do you agree?.

Okay, so here are the descriptions: The inner blouse I'm wearing is a long sleeved V-neck cotton shirt with sheer, chiffon piping on the neckline and the cuffs.  It is cream with novelty floral print.  I matched it with this blue metallic jumper dress with a ruffled, sweetheart neckline and a gold, ruffled belt.  I wore a three-fourths-sleeved button-down blouse over my outfit.  It has a floral eyelet design with Peter Pan collar.  The buttons are all covered with the same eyelet fabric and there's one cute button on each cuffs, too.  These three adorable pieces are all second-hand buys which I bought in excellent conditions.

Oh and yes, the brown faux-fur handbag is also thrifted and it's one of my favorite bags to use because I love its soft and fuzzy texture.

Wallflower: The Simple Striped Tee

This isn't exactly an outfit post but I thought I'd share it anyway:)  These photos were taken via phone but I absolutely love the backdrop.  It is a shame that we didn't bring a DSLR with us.  On a typical day, I usually just wear a simple shirt, jeans, and flats. When I'm back home where the weather is much colder, I would often wear a blazer or a cardigan over a shirt, and a scarf.   This striped tee is one of favorite basic pieces in my closet.  I noticed that it's also a wardrobe staple among many fashionista bloggers.  A stripe blouse works with pants and skirts, and various fabric so it's a pretty versatile piece.  Do you agree?  Do you have a striped top in your closet?

Wallflower: Sheer Gossamer Vintage Dress + Denim

I've always liked the combination of sheer, flowing dresses against denim. This vintage chiffon dress in Gossamer green has adorable detailing - green pearl buttons, ruffled piping on the neckline and on the bottom, and green lace embroidered on the waist. I found it amidst piles of unattractive clothing in a thrift shop last year. It has a tiny bit of a snag in front (not noticeable at all) so I asked the seller if she can cut down the price for me. I practically got this dress for a steal! So happy =)

Wallflower: Vintage Denim Dress + Floral Top

This vintage denim dress is one of my favorite thrift finds. I love the embroidery and the scalloped edge.  It fits me but it doesn't have any openings or zip which makes it difficult to put on and take off.  Since I need to clean out my closet and get rid of the things I don't get to use often, I've decided that the denim dress would have to go.

I still need to let go of a few more things.  The biggest challenge in thrifting is knowing which goodies to take home with and which ones are best left on the stall.  I usually find myself buying more items than I intended because I find them nice and awfully cheap.  The thing is, some of these clothes don't even get worn at all.  They sit lonely inside the cabinet or stay hung for an entire year, waiting to be remembered.   The upside it is that I have nieces and cousins and relatives who do not mind wearing hand-me-downs =)

I guess I'm a little bit guilty of hoarding at times.  Good thing, I don't have the money to buy all those stuff I find "nice and awfully cheap". I couldn't count the number of times when I purchased something out of an impulsive.  I often end up regretting it too!  But I've been learning my lessons and I do think that when it comes to shopping, I'm a lot smarter now.  Hopefully, I'm right. :)

Wallflower: Colorful Vs Black & Grey

Hello. I hope you've all had a great weekend. My Sunday had been wonderful. I was out the whole day which is very invigorating - the sun wasn't too strong and the weather was fairly cool. Spent the entire morning with my hubby and later in the evening, we finally got to see the film version of the musical Les Miserables. It made me want to read the novel again. I have read it a few years back and even then I cried buckets. Yes, I did cry in the theater.  The songs were amazing. There's a huge difference reading the printed page and with the story being told through songs. How spectacular it must be to watch the theatrical play!  Have you seen Les Mis?  Which adaptation did you see?

In the afternoon, I was with So and we managed to take some shots (using my phone) of our outfits that day in-between walks and conducting studies. How I wish I had taken my Canon with me.

 On Me:
vintage dotted cardigan (thrifted)
grey floral dress from a local boutique / Label: "For Me"
vintage leather cross body bag in peach/ Label: ANS (thrifted)

On Her:
lavender turtle neck sweater
vintage corduroy jacket (thrifted)
vintage floral skirt (thrifted)
super cute polka dot shoes (local shop)

We wore very contrasting styles that day. She's wearing tops in pastel colors and a vibrant printed skirt while I was wearing a black polka dot blazer over a grey dress. Our common denominator? We both had on vintage pieces that we got at practically a steal and we are smiling :)

Wallflower: Floral Vintage Dress

One of my favorite thrift finds is this floral vintage dress. I bought it a few years ago from a secondhand clothing shop for a little over a dollar. I love it not only because it was such a bargain but also because I have this thing about vintage floral patterns.  The dress is in light cream with yellow flowers and golden yellow piping on the neckline.  I got it in good condition - no stains or snags, and it fits me perfectly!

What's your favorite vintage piece in your closet?
